A new category of purpose-built generative-AI assistants has emerged specifically for change practitioners, alongside general-purpose copilots that people adapt for the same job. These tools act as an on-demand thinking partner: change managers can ask them to draft communication plans, stakeholder analyses, ADKAR/Kotter-based change plans, resistance-management tactics, and training outlines in plain language, then iterate in minutes instead of hours. The key differentiator between a purpose-built assistant and a generic chatbot is proprietary methodology and content: Prosci's Kaiya, for example, is trained on the firm's own decades of change research, so its answers reference specific frameworks and benchmarking data rather than generic advice. Generic assistants (ChatGPT Enterprise, Microsoft Copilot) are far cheaper and more flexible but require the practitioner to supply their own methodology and prompts. Together, these tools compress the planning and documentation workload of a change role, freeing time for the harder, people-facing work of stakeholder engagement and coaching.
